But...By dufrogWhen my old dewalt cordless drill motor went belly up, I shopped around a bit before settling on this kit. I love the Impact Driver. It has so much more torque! And they're both so small, without any power loss. My old drill also had a hammer drill setting, which this does not, but it wasn't all that useful as a hammer drill anyway so I don't miss it that much. Both these tools also have LED lights just above the trigger for illuminating your work. I initially thought this was pointless dressing, but I have found that I use these lights constantly! The batteries though... They're tiny and they're lithium ion. They work fine, but when they lose their charge, they just stop. Dead. There's no petering out or fading. They just suddenly quit. I hate that. What's more, try and find some more of these things! I thought I'd be able to pick some up at Home Depot whenever I wanted, but it turns out Dewalt discontinued them right off the bat. These tools will accept other 18v batteries despite the fact that they're much larger, but that does give the tool more size and weight. As usual, Dewalt batteries can only be charged on chargers of the same or newer generation. So no charging these li-ions on the regular 18v charger.0 of 1 people found the following review helpful.Much cheaper price availableBy R. SpeirMy low rating here is for the pricing, not the tool quality. I have been using Dewalt drills daily for years. They are very reliable, higher quality tools. I have also used a friend's Dewalt impact driver and loved it.That said, this price is just horrible. Rockler, for example, not know for bargain prices, is selling this kit for about $237 (15% off its list price of $279). You do have to pay shipping, but when you buy from a third party retailer through Amazon, as is the case here, you have to pay shipping also. Home Depot (ugh) is even offering it for $279 online with free shipping.Amazon, you are way off the pricing mark here.See all 2 customer reviews...
